“Reggae music is simple music – but it’s from the heart. Just as people need water to drink, people also need music. If it is true music, the people will be drawn to it.” ~ Ziggy Marley

Hello all

My daughter was asked once “ does your dad puff”
“ No, why that?” she replied.
Her friend’s answer was, “ because he is always listening to reggae”

I found it funny when my daughter told me this, a bit stereotypical, but still funny. Didn’t The Special do a song about that?

Anyway I have been posting about a few reggae albums of late, and wanted to explain how I came about listening to reggae, well it all started back in 1980 with my first music-buying with the 2-tone groups, The Specials – The Specials, The Beat – I Just Can’t Stop It, and The Selector – Too Much Pressure, all these albums had songs with a Ska/Reggae feel to them, then UB40 were allowed in our 2-tone gang, with there debut album Signing Off, which was my first ever reggae album.

Then 12” followed, where on most reggae 12” you had an extended version on the A-side, and on the B, an instrumental or dub version of the A-side, where I would sometimes play the B-side just as much as the A-side, one of these being, Janet Kay ‎– Silly Games, with the b-side being called “Dangerous” I just loved that bass rhythm. Other early albums for me that I remember, where Bob Marley & The Wailers ‎– Exodus, and Carroll Thompson ‎– Hopelessly In Love.

And that’s how it started, so I decide to do a random playlist, from the albums I have posted about.

Now where have I put them skins!

I have also been putting together these playlists, I normally make up a playlist from a variety of different music genres and see if they fit together. So lately I have restricted myself to the albums I have posted about and have decided to share it with you, as we did in the old days with tapes

The only way I can think of sharing playlists these days is with something like Spotify.
