“Music produces a kind of pleasure which human nature cannot do without.” – Confucius

Hello all

Running a bit late this morning was at a party last night, and it’s a bit hard to think of something to say, as I normally do these on the fly on a Sunday morning, but now I have had my first taste of coffee I will give it a go.

This week seems to have been a very jazzy week for me, and it all started with finding the Herbie Hancock ‎– Cantaloupe Island, I really did get into this album. At work this week I have been doing takeoffs, it can get a bit boring, so to help me pass the day, I have been listening to Spotify, playlists like Herbie Hancock Radio, which features artists like Wes Montgomery, Donald Byrd and Hank Mobley, then I move onto a playlist called Jazz Classics, which claims to have the best tunes in jazz history, and features Nina Simone, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock and a whole host of others. One of my workmates asked me what I was listening to, and I told him Jazz, and straight away he went into an impression of the Jazz Club from the Fast show.

So now you know what I get up to at work.

Midweek I decided to make my own playlist, A Frankie View – Jazz Vibe 3, to which I added artists that I have been listening to recently like, Dave ‘Fathead’ Newman, Diana Krall, and Bryony Jarman-Pinto.

So on my weekly visit to Sounds of the Suburbs, it had to ber a jazz album. so I picked up a copy of Sonny Clark ‎– Cool Struttin’, an album that’s been on my want list for a while.

Saturday night we went to a 30th birthday party, and I can not belive Drew is 30 years old, the little girl the wife and me use to look after on a Saturday now and again, has all grown up. Poor Drew was at the end of my clumsiness once, I was lifting her into her dad’s van, and I lifted her too height, and as I tried to put the poor child into the van she smack her head of the door arch of the van, both dad Peter and Drew always remind of this. Great night was had by all.

While I was there had a chat with Danny, Drew’s cousin, I never knew this but it turns out that he is a bass player, and has done some music production. Well we got talking about music, and surprise surprise some jazz, he was quite surprised that I knew who Moses Boyd was, I told him that I was a fan of his Dark Matter album but I have yet to write about it yet. He didn’t know I write a music blog, so I showed him it on my phone, Portishead ‎– Dummy, then we got into a discussion about Portishead and Massive Attack. Danny is of to Uni next week, I wish him all the best, I hope it all works out for you.

Next Saturday I have Desperate Measures live set to look forward to, see below.

Copies of the album that has only just been released will be available for purchase and signing.

Well, that’s it from me this week, feeling a bit tried, and have a Coq au vin to cook, stay safe all, and have a good week.

Oh, I have been listening to this on my daily commute.

I have always been putting together these playlists, I normally make up a playlist from a variety of different music genres and see if they fit together. So lately I have restricted myself to the albums I have posted about and have decided to share them with you, as we did in the old days with tapes

The only way I can think of sharing playlists these days is with something like Spotify, so above is some of what I have been listening to this week.
