“Music is one of the longest standing self-prescribed therapy in history.” Erin Seibert

Hello all

When is it all going to end, my poor wife has been through the mill of late with both her mum and dad in and out of the hospital, she had a week off next week which she was really looking forward to. Then we get the news that my daughter has caught Covid, and now the three of us have to self-isolate for 10 days.
Methinks I will have to treat her when all this madness is over.

I started my week off listening to The Stranglers ‎– Rattus Norvegicus, this was me continuing my adventure into punk, but I found this album very un punk-like.

During the week I started listening to an 80’s reggae band from Weston-Super-Mare, Cool Runnings ‎– Cool Runnings. This is my first realise from Bristol Archive Records that I have heard, I already posted my thoughts on Eclipse ‎– Corrupted Society from the sister label Reggae Archive Records. I do like what these labels are doing, all with the artist permission.

Also on the reggae front I noticed a few weeks ago that an album called Lover Rock Classics by Carroll Thompson was taken down by Spotify, well some news on this, a 40th-anniversary version is being realised of Carroll Thompson ‎– Hopelessly In Love with bonus tracks, the CD and Vinyl will be out in October, but it is on Spotify now.

Had a bit of a late-night music listening session on Friday night, started off with some pear Cider, while enjoying Coldplay ‎– A Rush Of Blood To The Head, and later on, I put the headphones on, in the company of a bottle of Chilean Malbec, I listened to Eva Cassidy ‎– Eva By Heart, this lady had a voice of an angel.

Saturday morning was spent reading about covers of the Blind Faith song “Can’t Find My Way Home”, I had to look the song up, but once I heard the song I knew it but didn’t know anything about it. Andrew from loving the Music has written about 3 covers of the song, Different Routes Home – Takes on a Blind Faith classic.

Have you heard of Harry ‘The Hipster’ Gibson, or the song ‘Who Put the Benzedrine in Mrs Murphy’s Ovaltine?’, nope, me neither? But I do now after reading Harry ‘The Hipster’ Gibson – The forgotten Rock and Roller, there is also a very interesting documentary at the end.

The wife would not let me go record shopping on Friday night, as it was our 1st day of isolation, I nearly got away with it.

So it looks like I will have a lot of time on my hands this week, and I have quite a lot to listen to.

Stay safe all, and have a good week.

Oh, I also listened to the below, on my way to work.

I have always been putting together these playlists, I normally make up a playlist from a variety of different music genres and see if they fit together. So lately I have restricted myself to the albums I have posted about and have decided to share them with you, as we did in the old days with tapes

The only way I can think of sharing playlists these days is with something like Spotify, so above is some of what I have been listening to this week.
