“Dance music is like a virus: it has affected so many different genres.” – Avicii

Hello there

As some of you may know I am quite a fan of Bryony Jarman-Pinto, and here we have two remixes of her tracks, taken from her debut album ‘Cage and Aviary’, reworked by Brooklyn-based pianist, composer, and producer Jesse Fischer and Leeds-based musician, producer and Steam Down member Wonky Logic.

Jesse Fischer’s remix of “Saffron Yellow” highlights the blend of folk, soul and jazz that drew him to the track, keeping subtle hints of old-school Afrobeat mixed in with contemporary Afrobeats sounds and New York grit.
I like this re-imagining of this song, and it doesn’t take anything away from the original, it’s got a nice tempo to it, a very summer feel to it.

Wonky Logic AKA Dwayne Kilvington puts an illuminating spin on the fiercely powerful “All About Life”. Blending Jarman-Pinto’s soulful vocals with jazzy electronics and crunk beats, Wonky Logic showcases his space-age synth skills to create an unsettled post-funk track that embodies the restlessness of the lyrics.
This mix has the up go of the jazzy original, and like the original is driven by the vocals.

Fruitless Fact 1: Jesse Fischer is a Brooklyn-based pianist, composer, and producer. Known for his warm, soulful touch and emphasis on melody, groove, storytelling and emotion, his unique voice combines elements of his own Jewish heritage with the music of the African diaspora, jazz, hip-hop, indie, and singer-songwriter genres.

Fruitless Fact 2: Leeds-based musician and producer Wonky Logic, aka Dwayne Kilvington, is an upcoming force on the left-field hip-hop scene – blending soulful electronics with crunk beats. Owing as much to sample culture as to his background as a jazz pianist, Wonky Logic sculpts his compositions with expansive space-age synths underpinned by clever bass work and off-kilter drums.
