“I don’t sing because I’m happy; I’m happy because I sing.” – William James

Hello all

I have been following Dirt Royal for about 6 months now, last Sunday they posted a link to a live acoustic set. They played some material from their Great Expectations album, and also showcased some new material.

I started Monday off with listening to a single released by Amahla ‎– Have Mercy Got to agree with Andrew Knapp from Loving the Music when he said “That bass line is as seductive as her voice!”.
I have been a fan of R.E.M. most popular albums Out Of Time, Automatic For The People, Monster, so I decided to go back to their debut album Murmur and was pleased I did, the more I listened to this album the more it gave. I also told the story of a bit of chicken and a flip flop, at a REM concert.
Towards the end of the week, for a change, I listen to a bit of dance music on my daily commute to work, with Daft Punk ‎– Homework.

Saturday morning has become a bit of a ritual. I am normally the first one up, so the first thing I do is switch the headphone amp on, to warm up the values, make myself a coffee, once the coffee is already, I sit in my man cave with headphones on, listening to music and read about music. This week I read about Dax Butler, a South African guitarist, singer/songwriter. You can read more here Mini-Feature: Dax.
Another blog I have started to follow is bestmusicofalltime, I read his About this Blog page where he states,

This blog is going to be a labour of love.
Over the years. I’ve stumbled across many songs and pieces of music that have changed my life.
I am going to use this blog to share what I regard as being the greatest music of all time.
From Bach to Basic Channel via The Beatles and The Beastie Boys!

This got me thinking, I have never really explained why I started this blog, all it says on my about page is that it is Coming soon, maybe I should fix this.
One of the highlights from bestmusicofalltime, was Linval Thompson – Whipping Version/Whip Them King Tubby some nice 70’s dub.

My Saturday morning album was by someone who has greatly affected my musical taste, whether it’s with the Specials, in the Jools Holland’s Rhythm and Blues Orchestra, or his solo material, Saturday morning album was Rico ‎– Man From Wareika, I got so excited that I was listening to this, that I announced to my wife who was just getting up, that I am playing a Rico album, her words were “Yipee” but I don’t think she meant it.

Had to drop my mother in law to the hairdressers, the in-car music was The Cure ‎– Three Imaginary Boys, I don’t think my 85-year-old mother in law is a Cure fan when I asked her opinion on them, her words were “he, not a very good singer is he“, oh well.

Well got to go, got some pork chops that need marinating, and then food shopping, were I will be enjoying the Cure with out the Tom Jones loving critic.

Stay safe all, and have a good week.

Oh, I also listened to the below, on my way to work.

I have always been putting together these playlists, I normally make up a playlist from a variety of different music genres and see if they fit together. So lately I have restricted myself to the albums I have posted about and have decided to share them with you, as we did in the old days with tapes

The only way I can think of sharing playlists these days is with something like Spotify, so above is some of what I have been listening to this week.
