“A painter paints pictures on canvas. But musicians paint their pictures on silence. ” – Leopold Stokowski

Hello all

I was reading an article by Steve for the Deaf, about The Cure song – Lovesong, Steve wrote.

Such is this tracks ubiquity it has been covered by a myriad of artists. Goth girl gang Jack Off Jill, multi-instrumentalist Indie The Big Pink, early adopter emo darlings Death Cab For Cutie, industrial heathens Snake River Conspiracy, the incredible vocal god Adele they’ve all made the declaration clear and heartfelt.

This got me thinking, when the hell did Adele cover this song, I don’t remember it.

Then the penny dropped, once I clicked on the Adele video that Steve had posted. I have heard this song so many times, both from The Cure and Adele version, and I never got the connection.

I continued my advantage into Jazz on Sunday afternoon with Nick Finzer ‎– Exposition, it is the first album realised by Outside in Music, where Nick Finzer founder of a new jazz/creative music record label, and I will be looking out for more titles from them.
Then I moved onto some reggae in the form of Groundation ‎– Hebron Gate, within 30 seconds this album hit me between the eyes, and I really enjoyed it.
Towards the end of the week, I started listening to some Jazz vocals in the form of Diana Krall ‎– Only Trust Your Heart, a nice chilled out album.

On Saturday morning while putting together a Female Vocals -3 playlist, I started reading about Gritty In Pink and how it started.
Saturday afternoon was dub time with Joe Gibbs & The Professionals ‎– African Dub – All Mighty – Chapter Two, a good addition to the series, and while we are talking about dub, The Museum of London, posted a video about Dub, I am looking forward to visiting Dub London: Bassline of a City You have to bring your own headphones, they have a bespoke record shop created with Papa Face of Dub Vendor Reggae Specialist with a selection of 150 vinyl records available to listen to chosen by fifteen London based independent record shops. I could be in there a while.
Last but not least, a single from Amahla called Apathy, this is one lady that has been impressing me with her output.

I quickly popped into Sounds of the Suburbs record store, on Friday night and picked up a Nina Simone completion, and a vinyl copy of Groundation ‎– Each One Teach One turned up, that I ordered from Germany, looking forward to giving these a spin.

I normally do these round-ups on a Sunday morning, I did start it, but didn’t have time to finish it, as I was off to Coventry to see 2 Tone: Lives & Legacies.

I really enjoyed it, great for any fan of this music, also not seen my sister for over a year, and it the first time in a year I have actually gone anywhere, so was good to get out, read and look at stuff about music I love. I picked up a signed copy of 2 Tone – Before, During & After, to go with the book I am reading at the moment The Duff Guide to 2 Tone.
I have now been to more museums than pubs this year, who would have guessed that!

Well, that’s it for this week.

Stay safe all, and have a good week.

Oh, I also listened to the below, on my way to work.

I have always been putting together these playlists, I normally make up a playlist from a variety of different music genres and see if they fit together. So lately I have restricted myself to the albums I have posted about and have decided to share them with you, as we did in the old days with tapes

The only way I can think of sharing playlists these days is with something like Spotify, so above is some of what I have been listening to this week.
