“My idea is that there is music in the air, music all around us; the world is full of it, and you simply take as much as you require.” – Edward Elgar

Hello all

First of just want to say congratulation to Casey and Jamie on the birth of their son Weston.

Well, this week was woman’s weeks as far as my music went, it all started off with Norah Jones ‎– Not Too Late for a bit of lazy Sunday afternoon listening, and It continued with Cécile McLorin Salvant ‎– WomanChild. These are two very calming albums that works for me, as I enter a period where I have got 2 phase handovers in 3 weeks at work, and these are going to be tight.

The woman theme continued with A Frankie View – Female Vocals -2, this was of the back of me watching the film The United States vs. Billie Holiday, and how I was shocked how she was persecuted for singing Strange Fruit, and the handcuffing of her while she lay on her death bed, its a great watch if you ever get the chance.

As you know, Saturday morning is normally catching up with my reading with a nice black coffee. Loving the Music posted a link for all Two-Tone fans. As a new exhibition documents the UK ska-pop sound, stars including the Specials, Elvis Costello and Pauline Black recall how it opened up music, fashion and racial understanding, you can read more here . I do fancy visiting 2 Tone: Lives & Legacies is at the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum, I will ask if there is anyone else who wants to coming along. My Deluxe Edition of Too Much Pressure by Selector turned up, with the news it entered the Official UK Charts on 30 April 2021 at #1 in the Vinyl Album Chart, #1 Independent Album and #24 in the full Official UK Album Chart, and a message from the band “Thank you to the fans that bought the re-issue and who have stuck with us for over 40 years, who still believe that The Selecter is and was a great band & that the ideas behind 2-tone are still worth fighting for!”
A 40th-anniversary half-speed master of Ghost Town is released on 4 June, which is on my want list, just don’t tell the wife.

The Madness docuseries “Before We Was We is” has started on AMC and BT TV, on my list to watch.

After finding out about all this wealth of Two-tone stuff, on Saturday afternoon I went back to 1968 and a bit of Rocksteady, with Saturday morning coffee, with Here Comes The Duke, a compilation of Jamaican record producer Duke Reid, Showcasing the talents of some of the giants of the rock steady era.

Well that all folks, I got to get ready soon, got food shopping to do, where the car music will be Alanis Morissette – Jagged Little Pill, and for those that are interested, I will be cooking that French classic, Coq au vin. One good thing about this, I am the only person in my house who likes red wine, so as they say once a bottle is opened you got to finish it.

Stay safe all, and have a good week.

Oh, I also listened to the below, on my way to work.

I have always been putting together these playlists, I normally make up a playlist from a variety of different music genres and see if they fit together. So lately I have restricted myself to the albums I have posted about and have decided to share it with you, as we did in the old days with tapes

The only way I can think of sharing playlists these days is with something like Spotify, so above is some of what I have been listening to this week.
