“Everything in the universe has a rhythm, everything dances.” – Maya Angelou

Hello all

I have had three days of work this week, well on my first day off I did get 10 phones calls concerning work, it did slow down the following couple of days after.
It was also my wife birthday yesterday, we were meant to have people around but we have had to cancel this. Not been easy for my wife lately, over the last couple of months, both her parents have been in and out of the hospital. This week her mum was taken in again, this creates problems because her mum is her dad’s carer, my wife dad suffers from Parkinson and is now housebound.
So the whole family has mucked in, it’s not easy when someone has to take about 12 tablets, with the first one has to be taken at 7 am, and the last at 10 pm. But this hasn’t been a problem as we have this covered. My wife has now arranged for carers to visit my father in law 3 times a day.

The joke in my house is that I don’t worry, because my wife worries for me, I sort of know what my wife is going through, as I went through it with my dad. When in a situation like this, it’s not only the person who needs the care that you have to think about, but the carer also needs looking after. So I have tried to give my wife as much support as she needs, been funny when needed, and have shut up and listened when needed.

Take care of each other, and sometimes its good to listen.

One thing my wife has said about me is that no matter what sort of craziness is going on around me, whether it’s work or personal, I can switch off. Music has been my go-to thing when I want to do this and watch the world go by. So this week I went back to where it began in my music collecting, with The Beat ‎– I Just Can’t Stop It, this album just brought back some great memories of my schooldays, and arguments about who was the best band.

Next up was a Reggae band that was together for ten years, from 1975 until 1985, but only released one album in that time period. So thanks to Reggae Archive Records and their great reissue Eclipse ‎– Corrupted Society I now know about them.
Later in the week, I moved onto very early Roots Reggae in the form of Bob Marley & The Wailers ‎– Soul Rebels, and by coincidence, a video from Playing For Change popped up in my Facebook feed. I really do love the way they do these videos.

Playing For Change is happy to share with all of you our final Song Around The World of 2019. Bob Marley once said “One good thing about music, when it hits you feel no pain…” Another good thing about music is that it touches our souls and lifts up our spirits. Connecting people is one thing, but connecting souls is a whole other level. Turn it up and enjoy Bunny Wailer, Manu Chao and Bushman singing the Wailer’s classic, “Soul Rebel,” along with musicians from around the world.

Friday morning was spent with Ed Sheeran ‎– +, and I was surprised at how much hatred is out there about Ed, I am not a fan of all what he does, but like some, but he has always come across as a really nice bloke. There was no football on Friday night so I went back to another album from my schooldays, Tears For Fears ‎– The Hurting (1983), very dark in some parts, a young 15 old me didn’t get it when I first got it. A better album for an older me.

One of my finds of 2021 has been Errol Linton, and I enjoyed listening to his album Mama Said on Saturday with morning coffee.

While being the family minicab service this week, the in-car entertainment has been Leon Bridges ‎– Coming Home, no one really passed any comments on it, as I don’t think my wife was really in the mood.
I have a few Red Hot Chili Peppers albums, but I have never heard there debut album, so this week their debut turned up, am looking forward to listening.

I have to coagulate my local record shop Sounds of the Suburbs For making the Discogs list of The Best Record Stores in London. I popped in there Friday and pick up a Bob Marley & The Wailers ‎– A Legend Reggae Classics, this is a 2 × Vinyl Compilation of early works, like what on Soul Rebel. The Seeds of 77 was cancelled the other week due to a member of the band being ill. So it is now going ahead on 3rd July, hopefully, I see if I can make it.

As Euro 2020 is still being played in 2021. England, have not looked great, but they did win their group and have drawn the old enemy Germany, who also don’t look great, lets pray it doesn’t go to penalties. Spain finally woke up beating Slovakia 5-0, and have Croatia next. Wales are out beaten 4-0 by an emotionally driven Denmark which I watched with my father law, and Italy had a tough game against Austria but won in extra time. I am looking forward to the Belgium v Portugal game, I think Belgium may be a bit too strong Portugal. Still think it’s a very open tournament at the moment.

Stay safe all, and have a good week.

Oh, I also listened to the below, on my way to work, and while doing some gardening.

I have always been putting together these playlists, I normally make up a playlist from a variety of different music genres and see if they fit together. So lately I have restricted myself to the albums I have posted about and have decided to share them with you, as we did in the old days with tapes

The only way I can think of sharing playlists these days is with something like Spotify, so above is some of what I have been listening to this week.
