“There is music in the air, music all around us; the world is full of it, and you simply take as much as you require.” – Edward Elgar

Hello all

I am Frrrreeeeee

Let me explain, so of you may of notice I have been posting quite regularly this week. The wife and I were meant to have a week of this week, but my daughter caught Covid, so we all had to go into isolation. My daughter is all good now, and we are allowed out of the house. There has been a bit of a heatwave last week, but what does it do on freedom day, it rains, typical!

I started my week off listening to the sweet voice of Eva Cassidy, with Eva by the heart, a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

I have always enjoyed studio live sessions, the way an artist reinterprets a song in these sessions always amazes me, this week I enjoyed Bryony Jarman-Pinto – Fish Factory Sessions EP which were recorded in 2020.

I finally got to listen to the first album I have ever pre-ordered, the 40th-anniversary edition of The Selecter ‎– Too Much Pressure, an album I originally brought when I was 13-14 years old, but the songs on this album are so relevant today. Later on, in the week, I decided to dig deeper into their debut single On My Radio/Too Much Pressure .

I may have been under Too much Pressure when I finally succumb to Dr John, The Night Tripper ‎– Gris-Gris, but it was an experience.

My Goddaughter when she worked at Justify use to play Florence + The Machine ‎– Lungs all the time, I have own the CD for 10 years and this week was the first time I have listen to it from start to finish.

I am a big Bob Marley & The Wailers and decided to give Soul Rebels a spin one morning, one of the albums that started Roots Reggae.

I have not published my thoughts yet, but with all that time on my hands, I have listened to and wrote about Alanis Morissette ‎– Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie, Not as catchy as Jagged Little Pill, and in places, the music is a lot darker. AMJ Dub Collective – Sound History Volume One, a bit of smooth dub and Fun Lovin’ Criminals ‎– Come Find Yourself, with its New York City vibe, which was more popular in the UK than the US.

The wife and I did have a day trip during our imprisonment, we had to go for a Covid test, and the in-car music was Zero 7 ‎– Simple Things, the wife was very noncommittal on this.

I am reading 2 Tone, Before, During, & After, was searching for something else, and an interview with the author Lee Morris popped up, which I found really interesting.

Loving the music published a nice article, Auto-Tune® – More than just Photoshop for the voice?. I knew about the “Cher effect”, but it was interesting to read how widespread the use of this software is. There is also a nice NPR Tiny Desk concert by T-Pain.

Tony from Sounds of the Suburbs posted a video of The Sha La La’s, who has been back in the studio.

Back to work on Monday with a change of job and a new role, can not say too much at the moment but will update next week.

Stay safe all, and have a good week.

Oh, seeing I didn’t go to work last week, this would have been my commute listen.

I have always been putting together these playlists, I normally make up a playlist from a variety of different music genres and see if they fit together. So lately I have restricted myself to the albums I have posted about and have decided to share them with you, as we did in the old days with tapes

The only way I can think of sharing playlists these days is with something like Spotify, so above is some of what I have been listening to this week.
