A big Welcome to fellow blogger Andrew Knapp from Loving the Music to A Frankie View.

What music are you currently listening to?

At this very moment I’m going through tracks from Gordon Lightfoot’s catalogue as a part of the research for an article I’m writing.

Don’t know a lot about him, apart from Paul Weller done a cover of Early morning rain, which I always liked.

You’ll be able to read all about him soon! 60 years is a long time to be in the industry and there is a wealth of anecdotes and history to sift through.

This is from Plague UK previous album Vaccination

2- CD, Streaming or Vinyl?

I stick to streaming. As a retiree I find it easier and less expensive. Purists may hate me, but hey, situation and needs sometimes dictate!!

What, if push comes to shove, is your all time favorite album?

That’s an easy one. Blood Sweat and Tears second album (1968).I was only 12-tears old but it hit me like a ton of bricks. Rock, Jazz, brilliant vocals, some classic songs. It never fails to excite me when listening to it – even 54 years later.

What was the first record you ever brought? And where did you buy it?

Get Yer Ya Ya’s Out – Rolling Stones. Michael’s Record Shop in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.

What do you sing in the shower?

Whatever earworm that has grabbed me that day. This morning was a jazzy version of Stormy Weather.

What is your favorite Saturday night record?

Humble Souls ‘Thoughts and Sound Paintings’. Acid Jazz at its best,

And your Sunday morning record?

Some gentle Trip-Hop normally. Thievery Corporation, Morcheeba or Massive Attack does it for me.

OOOrr very nice, not really touch on trip-hop yet on the blog, but love it, suppose it extends from my love of reggae.

It’s such an all encompassing genre that it borrows from all over.

Do you know what was number one in South Africa the day you where born?

I’m not sure if SA had a hit parade in 1955. I was born in London and emigrated in 1964. Top of the UK charts around 20 Sept was Rose Marie from Slim Whitman. Nothing you would want to listen to!

Blur or Oasis?

Like them both but lean toward Oasis.

Bob Dylan or Bob Marley?

That’s a tough one! Such different genres. For sheer volume of brilliant songs I’ll go with Dylan.

Morcheeba or Massive Attack?

Don’t do that to me!!!! I’ll go Morcheeba because I’m hopelessly besotted with Skye Edwards.

Billie Holiday or Nina Simone?

Nina Simone is the Queen

The Beatles or The Rolling Stones?

The Beatles for song crafting, the Stones for energy and endurance.

Marvin Gaye or Stevie Wonder?

Stevie Wonder. Brilliant all-rounder.

Thanks so much for that doing this.

Its been great fun. I’d just like state (as I do often) there is no such thing as the best era in music. It’s all subjective. There’s a constant stream of great new artists out there. Don’t get stuck in a rut, go and hunt it down. Thanks, Frank!

So true about era, and I would add genre as well, love finding new artist, and old artist that is new to me, and by reading your blog, you have share many new artists to me that I am now interested in.

You can catch Andrew at Loving the Music, always an interesting read.
