“Music drives you. It wakes you up, it gets you pumping. And, at the end of the day, the correct tune will chill you down.” – Dimebag Darrell

Hello all

First, of just want to give a little update on my mother in law, she is out of hospital now and doing good, thanks for all the messages.

Yet again my music listening has been affected by my personal life and football, but I did get to listen to some, and some time to write about it. I shared my views on Suzanne Vega self-titled debut album.
Went back to 1996, R&B was the rage at the time, Blackstreet, Boyz II Men, Mariah Carey, R. Kelly, etc, it just was not for me, Erykah Badu ‎– Baduizm was and still is.

I reminisce about some old workmates, and gave my thoughts and tried to answer the question Why is it considered gay for a guy to like and listen to female artists? in the post A Frankie View – Female Vocals -4.

Had a bit of a late-night music listening session on Friday night, with a bottle of Chilean Merlot, and the lights off in the man cave, while enjoying Amos Lee ‎– Amos Lee, My first listen to Stuart Pearce favourite band, The Stranglers ‎– Rattus Norvegicus and Cool Runnings by Cool Runnings, an 80’s reggae band from Weston-Super-Mare.
On my Friday night visit to Sounds of the Suburbs, I picked up a copy of Curtis Mayfield ‎– Roots, had a good chat with Tony, and thank him for the Seeds of 77 instore event. The next event is Gary Crowley lost 80’s

Alanis Morissette ‎– Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie arrived in the post, looking forward to giving it a spin.
So my mother in law has been in hospital for 2 weeks, and what’s the first thing she wants to do, get her hair done, I gave up trying to understand women a long time ago. So the in-car music was Third World ‎– Reggae Greats, didn’t really get much feedback from the Tom Jones loving critic on this one, she may have other things on her mind.

My wife asked me a weird question while in the car the other day, ” Can you drive the car without music on?”
“Of course I can drive the car without music on, but why should I?” I replied.
” Let me rephrase it then, do you ever drive the car without music on”
“No” and after a few moments of silence, I asked her was it getting on her nerves, ” A little bit” was her comeback.
I nearly said there always the bus, but decided to keep my tongue in my head, and turned it down a tad, I think she had things on her mind as well.

Now onto the football, and England V Denmark, the semi-final of Euro 2020, which did not start well with Denmark scoring first, England got one back in the 2nd half, and onto extra time, and I going to be totally honest here, I think it was not a penalty, but I don’t care the ref gave it. 2-1 England, and in the 2nd half of extra time, I don’t think I have ever told my wife to shut up as much I as did in the last 15 minutes, she could not understand why England was not going for a third. For all my 50 odd years of watching England, it the first time I have clapped when they passed the ball back to the keeper, I think it’s the first time I seen them professionally see out a game, just keep the ball I was shouting at the TV.

So it is now 10 am on a Sunday morning, and nerves have started to set in, the final V Italy is not till 8 pm, my poor wife will have to put up with me all day.

COME ON ENGLAND!

Stay safe all, and have a good week.

Oh, I also listened to the below, on my way to work.

I have always been putting together these playlists, I normally make up a playlist from a variety of different music genres and see if they fit together. So lately I have restricted myself to the albums I have posted about and have decided to share them with you, as we did in the old days with tapes

The only way I can think of sharing playlists these days is with something like Spotify, so above is some of what I have been listening to this week.
